LA JUGUERA

Year: 2017

Location: East Havana, Havana, Cuba

Stage: Completed

Plot area: 96 m²

Explanation of the project:

The project involved rehabilitating a "warapera" (a place where sugarcane juice is made) to convert it into a juice bar and "warapera." The intervention aimed to equip the space with new installations and give it a fresh image. To communicate the new function, a "super-typography" was used by bending metal pipes to form the word "jugo" (juice), which would also serve as high tables and a consumption area. These elements would catch the attention of passersby, attracting them to the space, which would be covered with a canvas roof.

My role in the project:
In this project, I was the lead designer. I was responsible for site visits to conduct surveys and take photographs. I was in charge of defining the entire project and subsequent adjustments with the engineers and graphic design too . I delivered the finished work to the client. I made this project in collaboration with Maurice Haedo.
